Uploading, watermarking and publishing
You drag the folder in and FotoHook handles the rest: it builds the thumbnail, prepares the copy with your watermark and stores the original outside the web root, where nobody can reach it on their own.
What it does
For every photo you upload, three versions are kept: the untouched original, a thumbnail so the gallery loads fast, and a copy with your watermark, which is what your clients see while they choose.
None of the three lives in a public folder. They are stored outside the web directory and served one at a time after checking who is asking: there is no address anyone can guess and no folder that can be listed.
You, from the dashboard, keep seeing the photos without the watermark. The client sees the marked version until they pay; then, and only then, the original is handed over.
How it works, step by step
You drag in the folder
Bulk upload: select hundreds of files at once or drop them onto the upload area. JPEG, PNG and WebP are accepted, up to 20 MB per file.
FotoHook processes each one
A 400×300 thumbnail for the grid and a copy with your logo over it for the client's view. The original is stored exactly as you uploaded it.
You sort and publish
Reorder the gallery by dragging and decide which photos are published. An uploaded but unpublished photo does not exist for the client.
You set prices
Per photo, for the whole group at once, or no sales at all. You can change it whenever you like without touching the photos.
The client chooses
They see the watermarked grid, open each photo full size, mark favourites and add the ones they want to the cart.
Details worth knowing
Watermark with your logo
You upload your logo once in the account settings and it is applied to every photo you upload from then on, with no work on your part.
Published and active
Two different things: a photo can be active (it exists, you can see it) but not published (the client cannot yet). Useful for preparing a whole gallery before opening it.
Bulk pricing
Setting the same price on a group's 300 photos is one action, not 300.
Full-size viewer
The viewer loads the large version, not the thumbnail: the client sees the photo in detail before deciding whether to buy.
Storage counter
Every account tracks what it uses. For now, every account gets 1 GB.
No recompression of the original
The file your client downloads after buying is exactly the one you uploaded, at its resolution and quality.
Account default price
Set a general price in the settings and every photo without its own takes it. Changing it does not mean going gallery by gallery.
Reorder by dragging
You decide the order of the grid by dragging the photos; that is the order the client sees.
Deleting frees space
Deleting a photo also removes its thumbnail and its watermarked copy, and the space returns to your quota.
Who it is for
Any photographer delivering more than twenty photos per job. Below that it hardly matters how you do it; above it, the difference between a bulk upload and manual sending is hours a month.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, in the account settings. Photos already uploaded keep the mark they were processed with; new ones get the new mark.
A client can save the image they see, as on any website. That is why what they see carries your mark: the usable version, the clean original, is only handed over with a paid order behind it.
They are stored as two separate photos and use twice the space. You can delete the extra one from the gallery in the dashboard and the space is freed.
Not by count. The limit is your plan's storage, so it depends on how big your files are.
