School composites with self-registration and voting

The slow part of a class composite is not designing it: it is gathering twenty-six pupils' photos and agreeing on a layout. FotoHook does both on its own.

What it does

You create the composite for a class, pick the candidate templates and hand out a QR code. Each pupil registers, uploads their own photograph and votes for the layout they prefer.

You can see at all times how many have uploaded a photo, how many are missing and how the vote is going. No chasing anyone over WhatsApp and no gathering images from twenty different sources.

When the window closes you have every photo in order with its name attached and the winning template chosen by the class itself. All that is left is to produce it.

How it works, step by step

You create the composite

Name of the school and the year group, the deadline and the templates people will choose from.

You hand out the class QR

One code per group. The school sends it in a newsletter or it goes up in the classroom.

Pupils register

A short sign-up with the date of birth. If the pupil is under fourteen, the guardian's consent is requested by email before they can upload anything.

They upload their photo and vote

Each one uploads their portrait and picks the template they prefer. One pupil, one vote.

You follow the progress

The dashboard tells you how many have finished, how many are missing and which template is winning, updated as it happens.

You produce the composite

Download the collected photos, already tied to their names, and build the composite with the chosen template.

Details worth knowing

Guardian consent

Built into the flow: a pupil under fourteen cannot upload a photo until their guardian confirms from the link they receive by email.

Pupil photos protected

They are stored outside the web root and served only by the system to whoever has permission. A minor's portrait cannot end up on a public URL.

Transparent voting

The count per template is always visible, in the dashboard and in the pupil's area.

Your own templates

You can load your own composite layouts and use them across every school you work with.

One group per class

Each class runs separately, with its own QR and its own vote, even within the same school.

Paying for the composite

If families pay for their copy, the order goes through the same sales circuit as the rest of the photos.

Who it is for

Photographers working with schools, colleges, academies, conservatoires or sports schools. It is the module you notice most in June, when twenty composites land in three weeks.

Frequently asked questions

The dashboard tells you exactly who is missing, so the message to the school is specific rather than "a few are missing".

From the dashboard you can see each pupil's photo and delete it so they upload another. The upload is always done by the pupil from their own account.

It is, as long as consent is collected from the right person. That is why FotoHook asks for the age, emails the guardian when the pupil is under fourteen and blocks the upload until it is confirmed.

Each registered pupil has one vote and the system does not allow voting twice from the same account.
