Discount coupons

Discount coupons for your galleries

A discount code is the perfect excuse for a gallery that has been quiet for two weeks to start moving again. FotoHook lets you create them with whatever conditions you want and apply them in the cart.

What it does

A coupon is a code your clients type into the cart that brings the total down before paying. You create it, with whatever name you like, and it only works in your galleries: coupons belong to your account and never mix with anyone else's.

The discount can be a percentage —15% off the total— or a fixed amount —five euros off—. In the second case it never takes the order below zero: if the discount is larger than the purchase, only what is there gets applied.

Each coupon carries its own conditions: from when and until when it is valid, how many times it can be used in total, and a minimum spend below which it does not apply. And it can be switched off at any time without deleting it.

The discount is stored on the order alongside the subtotal and the total, so you always know which campaign produced each sale and what it cost you.

How it works, step by step

You create the code

The text the client will type. The easier to type the better: WEDDING10 works far better than a twelve-character random string.

You pick the discount type

A percentage of the cart total or a fixed amount. Percentages suit large orders; fixed amounts suit low-priced galleries.

You set the conditions

Minimum spend for it to apply, maximum number of uses and start and end dates. Any of the three can be left blank if you do not need it.

You hand it out

In the email telling them the gallery is ready, on the card you give with the job, or in a message to a returning client.

The client uses it

They type it into the cart before paying. If the coupon is not valid —expired, used up or below the minimum— the total does not change and they are not undercharged.

You see it on the order

The order stores which coupon was applied and how much came off, so you can measure which campaign worked.

Details worth knowing

Percentage or fixed amount

Both coexist: you can run a seasonal 10% and a "5 € off your first order" at the same time.

Minimum spend

Stops a discount designed for a hundred-euro order being spent on a single photo.

Usage limit

The coupon has its own counter. Once it hits the maximum it stops applying, even if the code keeps circulating.

Validity dates

From and until. Outside those dates the code simply does not work, without you having to remember to switch it off.

Switch on and off

A disabled coupon stops working immediately and keeps its history, in case you want to reuse it for the next campaign.

Unique code per account

There cannot be two coupons with the same code inside your account, so there is never any doubt which one was applied.

Who it is for

For anyone working in seasons: a communion campaign, the September discount on summer photos, the Christmas promotion.

And for returning clients: the school that hires you every year, the family coming back for the youngest one's communion. A code with their name on it takes a minute and shows in the conversion rate.

Frequently asked questions

Yes: it is your price coming down. FotoHook takes no commission on sales, so the discount is entirely yours, just like the revenue.

Yes. Give it a limit of one use and send it only to that person. As soon as they use it, the code stops working.

No. One coupon per order, which is what prevents stacked discounts that leave the sale at nothing.

The total stays at zero and never goes negative. A ten-euro coupon on a six-euro purchase leaves the purchase at zero.

Yes, the coupon has its own usage counter and each order stores which one was applied and how much came off.
